Welcome

CooL stands for Coaching on Lifestyle. The CooL program is covered by Dutch basic health insurance (no deductibles).

The CooL-program

The CooL program is not just another diet. With the help of your CooL lifestyle coach, you will not only address nutrition but also focus on exercise, sleep, stress, relaxation, and positive health. This is a long-term program, lasting for two years. You will have both one-on-one sessions and group sessions (maximum of 15 participants). The first 8 months have monthly group meetings, followed by bi-monthly sessions for the following 16 months.

What to expect during CooL sessions?

  1. We work on changes in your lifestyle. Lifestyle covers nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress, and relaxation.
  2. We assess what is already going well.
  3. Together we set goals with corresponding actions that you will work on at your own pace.
  4. You will work on movement or sports independently.

What do we expect from you?

Participation in CooL is free of charge, but we also expect a certain commitment from you. You are expected to attend all sessions and work on the goals and actions we have set together between sessions.

When are you eligible to participate?

You can sign up for the CooL program if you:

  • Are 18 years or older,
  • Are “overweight” (a BMI between 25 and 30) AND also have sleep apnea or osteoarthritis or an enlarged waist circumference (men: > 102 cm; women: > 88 cm) or at an increased risk of diabetes or cardiovascular diseases,
  • Or if you are “severely overweight” (a BMI of more than 30)

Do you want to know your BMI? Use this calculator from the NHS.

How to measure your waist circumference:

  1. Stand up straight.
  2. Place a measuring tape around your waist, on bare skin.
  3. Do not pull the measuring tape too tight.
  4. Pay attention to the correct location: measure the waist circumference between the lower rib and the top of your pelvis, approximately at the level of the navel.

Extra/optional

Outdoor Coaching

I offer the opportunity to do the one-on-one coaching sessions outdoors in a natural environment. Wageningen has beautiful places to do this. A natural environment is relaxing, especially in combination with walking.

Slow Sports®

CooL participants can additionally participate in a Slow Sports group specifically for CooL participants at a reduced rate. Slow Sports stands for relaxed outdoor movement without focus on performance. See my Slow Sports page for more information.

The first trial month of Slow Sports for CooL participants is free, after that you can continue at a discounted CooL rate.
